My name is Rachel Carlyle Edington, also known as the Gluten Free Mama, or just “Mama”. I am the owner of Gluten Free Mama Kitchen, LLC, we manufacture gluten free flour blends and mixes and I have written two cookbooks, “Gluten Free Mama’s Best Baking Recipes” and “In the Kitchen with Gluten Free Mama”. I also write the Gluten Free Mama Food Blog. Everyone has a journey to the Gluten Free Lifestyle, mine started because of my daughter Lexie’s diagnosis with Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance.
I wanted Lexie to be just like any other kid and have the same wonderful experiences growing up and that included food. Why should she be left out just because she is gluten free? Why should she not be able to enjoy food? I became Gluten Free Mama plainly because I loved my daughter. My love for my daughter gave me passion to help other moms with the same situation which in turned has helped anyone who needs to be gluten free. My mission is to bring you products that are exceptional in quality and flavor and make gluten free living as easy as possible so you can enjoy the things in life that matter!
The things that matter to me most in my life are my family! I have three kids, all girls and had the amazing blessing of marrying my best friend, Rob Edington on Valentine’s Day in 2012. Rob has three kids, which mean we now have six kids! We call ourselves the “Eddy Bunch”. Oh and I can’t forget the dogs, they are family too! We have a St. Bernard Lab, Opal, and two Mini Australian Shephards, Tyson and Sophie. Rob and I are nearing an entire new era in our life, “empty nesters”. Our oldest, Rebekah, is excelling in Paul Mitchell Beauty School. Our oldest son, Josiah, is a Freshman and Montana State University, Go Cats! Our two 17 year old daughters, Gracie and Rachel May, are seniors this year with Cassie right behind them. Lexie, the gluten free baby is not a baby anymore. Currently Gracie, Cassie and Josiah keep us very busy going to all there sporting events which include Lacrosse, Cheerleading, Tennis and Track. Lexie keeps us busy with music and dance. The last three years of my personal life, my health has been very difficult, I have MS and Trigeminal Neuralgia. I had brain surgery in November and am just finally starting to feel better. I have learned over the last three years that there is nothing more important in life than God, Family, and Friends, everything else is just trivial. I am thankful for the “good days” and just muster through the bad. I look forward to living life to its fullest, creating new products and expanding Gluten Free Mama, spending quality time with my family and friends, living life to it's fulles on my good days, and of course lots and lots of baking! If you are ever in Montana, be sure to give us a call and come by and say hi!
